In the internet world, I am known as Ashane. My real name is Daniel Liss. I'm 19. I can guess that you found this site from hearing about my involvement in the video game music arrangement scene. The VGM community is my greatest calling for spending so much time online. I derive a LOT of my musical inspiration from video game composers, as you will hear in some of my music. I've been playing guitar for about roughly five years, and maybe three and a half years of more serious practice. Doing video game covers in early 2002 when I was 15 really inspired me to pick up a nice guitar to learn on (thanks, bro!) as I recorded very basic covers on my brother's digital Roland 8-track. These were the times before I had discovered the scene, much less the Minibosses. Upon consistently recording music and listening to more game music, a couple searches on KaZaA led both my brother and I to discovering the Minibosses and their forum in March 2003. I had about 22 songs finished up to that point, and was enough for me to post some as I joined their forum. The scene kept developing as more artists discovered this scene, which led to the Dwelling of Duels being created by Crimson. It's pretty much history from there. As far as my other musical background, I played in several shitty rock/metal/prog bands in junior high and high school. The last one I played in was not bad though. I'll have some of that in my original music section. I really don't do original music as much as I'd like to. I'm reaching the point of confidence where I can consistently make songs. I also like to write chiptunes on occasion with people. Right now I'm a student at Portland Community College pursuing an Associates of Arts degree. After that I plan on transferring to a 4-year university. I haven't decided my major, but it will most likely either be Japanese or Music. I've taken two years of college Japanese at PCC. I currently live with my girlfriend. |
